Course Description

This course provides an introduction to the essential principles and practices of risk management. Developed by The Dentists Insurance Company (TDIC), this course is designed to help dental professionals understand and navigate their roles and responsibilities as both clinicians and as employers. Through this course, dentists will learn how to identify and mitigate their potential loss exposure by applying proven risk management strategies.

Speakers 

Taiba Solaiman, PHR, RDA

Ms. Solaiman is a representative in the Resource Center for the California Dental Association.  In 2007, Ms. Solaiman moved to TDIC’s Risk Management department initially as a Risk Management Analyst, later promoting into her current role as a Senior Analyst.  Ms. Solaiman’s career has exclusively focused upon the dental industry through her various roles as Registered Dental Assistant, Dental Assisting Instructor and Client Consultant for a privately held OSHA Review company.  She attained a certification in Professional Human Resources (PHR) in 2017 to further her knowledge and understanding of employment laws and regulations.  She shares her extensive background and expertise by speaking nationally representing the company at seminars, dental conventions, dental schools and participating dental societies.  She is the managing writer for the quarterly risk management publication, Liability Lifeline newsletter and the monthly edition of RM Matters. Ms. Solaiman leads the development and content creation on behalf of the risk management department for seminars and multiple resource offerings including informed consents/practice focused sample forms and reference guides. She also advises dentists in the areas of professional and employment liability, property and cyber risk management.  Taiba is committed to leading and developing strategic risk management services, support, education and training for the dental profession.Solaiman is a Senior Risk Management Analyst with TDIC.  She joined the organization in 2003 as a service representative.

Ron Goldman, Esq.

Mr. Goldman graduated cum laude with his political science degree from California State University, Northridge, in 1978. He attended California Western School of Law in San Diego, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1981. Mr. Goldman has been practicing law for 37 years with extensive trial experience defending physicians and dentists in malpractice cases, employment matters, licensing boards and business litigation. Given his extensive jury trial experience, Mr. Goldman was voted by his peers into the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2005 and voted into the California Medical Legal Committee in 2015.  Mr. Goldman participates in a variety of professional lectures on an annual basis, most recently providing a mock deposition presentation to the Emergency Room physicians at Alta Bates Hospital (Oakland, CA). He is also presently an Assistant Adjunct Professor at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry.
