SUMMARY:CE / Dinner Meeting - Caries Control: Nutrients as Preventives & Gl
ass Ionomer as the Restorative of the Future
DESCRIPTION:Speaker\n\nDr. Jeremy Horst Keeper\, DDS\, PhD\n\n\n\nCourse De
scription\nIn the last decade\, noninvasive therapies have revolutionized
options for managing dental caries. We started with SDF\, but now we have
FDA-approved nanotechnologies that do not stain\, such as P11-4 (Curodon
 t) and povidone iodine (Betadine). We have learned to use Glass Ionomers
as definitive restorations\, strengthening the tooth and preventing recurr
ent caries. This changes the way we prep teeth\, so partial caries removal
has become the international standard. The evidence is strong. Here we wi
ll focus on indications\, how-to\, and outcomes to empower dental teams to
provide gentler care and achieve cost-beneficial success.\nNutrients will
  include arginine\, iodine\, vitamins B6 &amp\; D\, xylitol (sort of a nut
 rient)\nLearning Objectives\n\n\n1. Explain how P11-4 (Curodont) works\,
and offer it to patients.\n2. Demonstrate how to reduce or even eliminate
caries removal with SDF and/or glass ionomer.\n3. Offer at least one nonin
vasive caries treatment to patients.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nTable Clinics 6:00pm: 1
  CE\n\nCourse 7:00-9:00pm: 2 CEs\n\nBio:\nJeremy Horst Keeper DDS\, PhD is
the director of clinical innovation at CareQuest Innovation Partners\, an
organization whose mission is to improve oral health for all. As a practi
cing pediatric dentist\, biochemist\, and educator\, Jeremy is known for i
nvestigating the strengths and limitations of Silver Fluoride therapy\, he
lping to develop SMART fillings\, and accelerating the adoption of maximal
ly effective\, minimally invasive caries management techniques. In support
of this work\, Jeremy holds affiliations with the University of Washingto
n and the dəxwx̌ayəbus Dental Therapy program. At CareQuest\, Jeremy is
driving the development of better treatments\, preventives\, and diagnos
tics to improve access to person-centered care\, integrate oral health i
nto overall health\, and stop dental caries.\n
