 resent in a wide swath of our patient population - both as a post-orthodon
 tic complication and as an effect of long standing periodontal disease. Ev
 en though we see them frequently\, they can be unpredictable to restore - 
 unless you have the right armamentarium to do so. This course will cover o
 ptions to treat black triangles: with the help of anatomic shaped mylar\
 , good tissue retraction techniques and predictable results by diving into
  the reasons the triangles popped up in the first place. By better under
 standing the etiology of black triangle spacing and your patient's pe
 rspective\, you will walk away with some ideas on how to present treatment
  options the next time your patient asks about it.\n\nLearning Objectives:

 io:\n\n\nDr. Lauren Yasuda Rainey is a graduate of the University of the P
 acific\, Arthur A Dugoni School of Dentistry and completed a General Pract
 ice Residency at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. At Tufts she 
 was introduced to the use of surgical microscopes for restorative care\, w
 hich she continues to use today. In addition to clinical practice\, Dr. Ra
 iney began teaching at the Dugoni School of Dentistry in the Department of
  Reconstructive Dental Sciences and the Department of Dental Practice. The
 re she taught both lectures and hands-on coursework in teledentistry\, pre
 -clinical fixed and direct restorative and local anesthesia administration
 .\n\n\nDr. Rainey teaches direct composite restorative programs including 
 black triangle closures\, predictable Class II techniques and is an advoca
 te for using composite resin for crown alternatives wherever possible. She
  teaches dentists in the US and Canada\, both in-person and in virtual han
 ds-on formats\, oftentimes using a surgical microscope for enhanced visual
 ization.In 2016\, Dr. Rainey purchased a paper chart\, PPO-based practice\
 , and fully transitioned to a digital fee-for-service boutique practice in
  Berkeley\, California. She is active in giving back to her communities th
 rough her involvement in Girl Scouts\, Mommy Dentists in Business. She cur
 rently sits on the board of the Alumni Association at the Dugoni School of
  Dentistry and is a speaker for Catapult Education's Speakers Bureau. In h
 er free time\, you can find her outdoors\, mentoring young women intereste
 d in the health professions or whipping up a cake.\n\n\n\n
