Jeremy Horst Keeper, DDS, PhD

In the last decade, noninvasive therapies have revolutionized options for managing dental caries. We started with SDF, but now we have FDA-approved nanotechnologies that do not stain, such as P11-4 (Curodont) and povidone iodine (Betadine). We have learned to use Glass Ionomers as definitive restorations, strengthening the tooth and preventing recurrent caries. This changes the way we prep teeth, so partial caries removal has become the international standard. The evidence is strong. Here we will focus on indications, how-to, and outcomes to empower dental teams to provide gentler care and achieve cost-beneficial success.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Explain how P11-4 (Curodont) and works, and offer it to patients.

2. Demonstrate how to reduce or even eliminate caries removal with SDF and/or glass ionomer.

3. Offer at least one noninvasive caries treatment to patients.
