Course:

Dental caries is the single most common chronic childhood disease in the USA. Coordinating care
between dentists and physicians and staying current with new developments in pediatric dental care
will result in optimum outcomes for our children here in Marin.

• Learn about the status of children’s oral health in Marin County and other common health challenges they may be experiencing.
• Discuss the need and challenges in treating underserved populations, the impact of COVID-19 in widening the inequalities gap and ways to improve access and prevention
• Discuss ways to effectively collaborate with pediatricians on improving children’s oral health and how to coordinate referrals for dental care in Marin County
• Learn about new materials and techniques in pediatric dentistry including silver diamine fluoride
• Review the protocols on risk management assessment and the current emphasis on preventive strategies and conservative treatment
• Understand the highlights of the development of current safety policies and guidelines, particularly for pediatric oral sedation
